About Stiefeld
How did Stiefeld Canada begin?
Stiefeld Canada began through friendship, timing, and a shared love for western style.
We first met Linnden in 2018 when she reached out to us because she wanted a pair of Stiefeld boots. At the time, she was running her own western-inspired brand in Canada called Urban Cowgirl Co, known for its beautiful kimonos and wild rags.
What started as a simple purchase quickly turned into a connection.
In 2019, we shared a booth together at the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR). It was one of the first times Stiefeld boots were introduced directly to the Canadian western community, and the response was incredible.
Then the pandemic paused everything for a while.
Years later, we reconnected and began spending time together again at industry events like WESA. During those conversations, one idea kept coming up: Canadian customers loved the boots, but ordering across the border could sometimes mean longer shipping times and additional duties.
So we asked ourselves a simple question.
Why not bring Stiefeld closer to Canada?
After many conversations, planning, and shared excitement, Stiefeld Canada was born.
Today, Stiefeld Canada allows customers to shop our handcrafted boots with easier domestic shipping, no cross-border duties, and local support, while still receiving the same boots handcrafted in León, Mexico.
It’s a collaboration built on trust, friendship, and a shared passion for western craftsmanship.
And we’re just getting started.
Where are Stiefeld boots made?
All Stiefeld boots are handcrafted in León, Mexico, a city internationally known for its leather craftsmanship and bootmaking tradition.
Our boots are made by skilled artisans using traditional techniques and premium materials. Each pair is produced in small batches to maintain quality and attention to detail.
What makes Stiefeld boots different?
Stiefeld boots are designed to combine authentic western craftsmanship with distinctive materials and authentic designs.
Every pair features:
- handcrafted construction
- premium cowhide or full-grain leather
- small-batch production
- timeless western style
Because we avoid mass production, each pair has its own character and individuality.
Are Stiefeld boots mass produced?
No. Stiefeld follows a small-batch production philosophy.
Every pair is handcrafted by experienced artisans in León, Mexico. Instead of producing large quantities, we focus on maintaining quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
About Our Materials
Are cowhide boots all the same pattern?
No. Hair-on-hide cowhide is a natural material, which means every pair is unique.
Variations in color, hair direction, and pattern distribution are normal and part of what makes each pair special. Some boots may have more white, others more brown or black, and some may feature beautiful speckled or brindle patterns.
These variations are not defects but a natural characteristic of authentic cowhide.
What if the cowhide pattern is different from the photos?
Because our boots are made with real hair-on-hide cowhide, every hide has a unique natural pattern.
For most Stiefeld Canada products, each size is photographed individually, so the pair shown for that size is the pair you will receive.
However, in some cases where a product page displays general product images with multiple size options, slight variations in color distribution, hair direction, or pattern may occur.
These natural variations are part of what makes cowhide boots special. No two pairs are ever exactly the same.
If you have any questions about a specific pair before ordering, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
Will the color of the boots look exactly the same as in the photos?
We do our best to photograph our boots as accurately as possible.
Most products on Stiefeld Canada are photographed individually by size, which means the pair shown for that specific size is the pair you will receive.
However, colors may appear slightly different depending on:
- your device screen
- monitor brightness and settings
- lighting conditions
In addition, because our boots are made with natural materials such as cowhide and leather, slight variations in tone, texture, or hair direction are normal and part of the character of the material.
These variations are not defects, but a natural feature of handcrafted leather products.
If you have questions about a specific pair before ordering, feel free to contact our team.
Fit & Sizing
How do I choose the right size?
Most customers find that Stiefeld boots run true to size.
If you normally wear a standard US women's size, we recommend starting with that size.
If you are between sizes:
• Narrow feet → choose the smaller half size
• Wider feet or high instep → consider sizing up half a size
You can also visit our Fit Guide for step-by-step instructions on measuring your foot at home.
Will my boots feel tight at first?
Yes, this is normal for handcrafted leather boots.
When new, Stiefeld boots may feel slightly firm across the instep or around the foot. Over time, the leather softens and adapts to your foot shape.
This break-in period is part of what allows leather boots to become more comfortable with wear.
What toe shapes do Stiefeld boots have?
Stiefeld boots feature different western toe shapes.
Square Toe
• true to size
• slightly roomier toe box
Snip Toe / Pointed / Round Toe
• true to size for most customers
• if you have wide feet or a high instep, consider sizing up half a size
Comfort & Wear
Are Stiefeld boots good for everyday wear?
Yes. Stiefeld boots are designed to be both stylish and comfortable for everyday use.
Our boots are handcrafted using durable materials such as cowhide and full grain leather, making them suitable for daily wear, travel, events, and casual western style.
With proper care, leather boots can last for many years and develop beautiful character over time.
Are Stiefeld boots comfortable for walking?
Yes. While leather boots may feel structured at first, the leather gradually softens and adapts to your foot with wear.
Many customers find their Stiefeld boots become even more comfortable after the initial break-in period.
We recommend wearing your boots for short periods at first to allow the leather to naturally mold to your foot.
